Because of its print features, the INDD is often used to create newspapers, detailed print layouts, newsletters and flyers. An INDD file contains many different elements, like layouts and page data. The InDesign file extension (INDD) is the official file extension for projects created using the software system Adobe InDesign. The AI is used extensively by large enterprises due to its resizable qualities and ability to function as a brand logo graphic. It uses vector graphics, which create the outcome of a picture by connecting numerous digital points that instruct what kind of graphic to display in that area. The AI image file is the standard graphic format used for files saved from the popular image design tool Adobe Illustrator. We’ll start by explaining both of these file types so that you have a base understanding of each. However, just in case it happens, here’s a guide to make sure you know how. Chances are you’ll hardly ever encounter a need to make this change. Most of us telling about FONT License, is it the issue here? defiantly not.Converting from an AI to an INDD is not the most common task. I think this printer does not have any PDF imposition software or they can not do that in INDESIGN, they impose in ILLUSTRATOR manually, then save it in EPS, place in QuarkExpress and send to RIP. In this way I do not care about licensing issues regarding FONT when someone send me a PDF using thousands of Licensed Font. It will make sure that the FONT used in the file outlined as the same even the PRINTER missed a bunch of FONTs. After that select pages and go to OBJECT>Flatten Transparency

Printer should know how to place a PDF in Illustrator without having trouble with Font.įor The Printer I want to let them know, place pages as link with appropriate cropping then IMPOSE accordingly in Illustrator. If you do not have Better PRINTER, then you can send EPS as you have done a layout that is mostly text in InDesign (as Mike Ornellaspost). There is no way to do that directly from INDESIGN, I think this not a good idea to convert INDD to AI doing that in some other way, you better change the PRINTER. Convert InDesign file to Illustrator (*.ai) file
